Every dog has a story, every dog has his day.
And this dog's name is Yippe-I-A
When he was just a puppy he would call me out to play,
I swore to him that we would both go see the world someday.
When we were young, adventure seemed so very far away,
but one day I'd go sail a ship and by my side he'd stay.
One wintery day I ran to school to fight a chilly frost.
I didn't close the gate and I would find out what it cost.
I should have pad attention to the things that I had done.
When I got home I found out that my puppy dog was lost!

I searched and searched to see if I could find out where he'd gone.
I yelled his name and made a sign and stuck it on my lawn.
The biggest tears I ever cried were for my dog that day.

A week had passed and there was not a thing to do but pray.
My little heart was broken 'cause my dog had run away.

I ran across the meadow and I climbed up in a tree,
I called his name out loudly as I climbed up high to see.
I saw him running towards me just as happy as can be,
'cause on that day my dog had found his way back home to me!
